How We Support Education

Impacting Education From Pre‑K to post secondary

The Florida Lottery's sole mission is to maximize revenues for the enhancement of public education in Florida. Since the Florida Lottery’s inception, we’ve contributed…

  • $23+ billion

    to Florida’s public schools

  • $11+ billion

    to state colleges and universities

  • $8+ billion

to the Bright Futures Scholarship Program

Bright Futures

The Bright Futures Scholarship Program was created by the Florida Legislature and is primarily funded by the Florida Lottery. Since 1997, we’ve helped send nearly 1 million students to college on a Bright Futures Scholarship, putting their dreams of higher education within reach.

Strategic Partnerships

The Florida Lottery regularly partners with organizations across the state who share our commitment to education, allowing us to spread awareness of the Bright Futures Scholarship and encourage engagement in our communities.

Where the Money Goes

Every Ticket Has A Big Impact In Florida’s Communities

A portion of every Florida Lottery ticket purchased is re-invested into Florida communities through education— from school reconstruction to K-12 programs.

When you buy a Florida lottery ticket, you may wonder, "Where does the money go?" Let's find out.

The Lottery's sole mission is to maximize revenues for the enhancement of education in Florida.

That's why approximately 25% of every ticket purchased is transferred to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.

The Department of Education then distributes the funds to the public education system. The Florida Lottery has contributed billions to education in our state, supporting school improvements, resources for teachers and students, and the Bright Futures Scholarship. Created in 1997 by the Florida Legislature, the Bright Futures program helps students across Florida receive a college education, and it's primarily funded by the Florida Lottery.

And of course, our players win big.

About 65% of Florida Lottery ticket sales go back into Florida's economy through our exciting cash prizes. Around 5.75% goes to commissions and bonuses for our more than 13,000 Florida Lottery retailers. And since we're committed to keeping operating costs low, just about one percent is used for Florida Lottery operating expenses (among the lowest in the nation).

You can play the Florida Lottery by visiting one of our retailers. Find your closest location on our website, and don't forget to follow us on social media for new games, winner stories, and special promotions.

You can also download the Florida Lottery app to conveniently check winning numbers right at home, easily enter bonus play promotions, and more.

So no matter how you play, your ticket goes much further than you think.
