TALLAHASSEE — Today, the Florida Lottery (Lottery) announces that Alpeshkumar Patel, 54, of Winter Haven, claimed a $5 million top prize from the $5,000,000 CASHWORD Scratch-Off game at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. He chose to his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $3,915,000.00.

Patel purchased his winning ticket from Citgo Express, located at 4850 Cypress Gardens Road in Winter Haven. The retailer will receive a $10,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

The $20 game, $5,000,000 CASHWORD, launched in May 2020 and features eight top prizes of $5 million and 24 second tier prizes of $1 million! The game's overall odds of winning are 1-in-2.91.

Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery's portfolio of games, comprising approximately 77 percent of ticket sales in fiscal year 2021-2022. Since inception, Scratch-Off games have generated more than $17.06 billion for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).
