THE FLORIDA LOTTERY JOINS INDUSTRY LEADER TO RECOGNIZE
PROBLEM GAMBLING AWARENESS MONTH
TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Lottery joins the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) to celebrate the 15th annual Problem Gambling Awareness Month. The month of March is dedicated to raising awareness of the prevention, treatment, and recovery services available for those adversely affected by gambling.
The purpose of this month is to help people have the conversation about problem gambling. "Responsible gaming is fundamental to the Florida Lottery," said Florida Lottery Secretary Jim Poppell. "We encourage all players to play within their means and to understand our games are a form of entertainment with the added benefit of enhancing education."
"The Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling (FCCG) is pleased to join the Florida Lottery in participation of National Problem Gambling Awareness Month in the state of Florida," said David Griffin, President of the FCCG Board. "The FCCG is among more than 30 state affiliates of the NCPG, who declared March as the official awareness month nationwide. The FCCG is doing its part to spread the word about its 24-hour statewide confidential and multilingual HelpLine, 888-ADMIT-IT, which offers information, supportive intervention, population-specific materials, and resource referrals, including free treatment to Florida residents."
The Florida Lottery is committed to building responsible gaming best practices into all of its operations. In 2018, the Florida Lottery received the highest level of responsible gaming certification from the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) and NCPG, becoming the 15th Lottery in the country to receive this recognition.
