I currently attend Florida State University, where I'm a political science major. I'm on track to graduate in two years instead of four, and after college, I want to go to law school to become an entertainment lawyer or civil lawyer. Because of a Florida Lottery and Bright Futures, 75% of my tuition is covered every semester. As a first-generation college student, I see the Bright Future scholarship as an investment in my dreams and my future. It's given me the opportunity to become an international student, as this summer I will be able to go to Australia to study abroad. Thanks to the Florida Lottery and the Bright Future scholarship, I don't have to work a job in school, so I have more time for extracurricular activities such as the Women in Pre-Law Society, the Black Law Student Association, and the WB de Boy Honor Society. By being a part of these clubs, I'm able to prepare for my future career as a lawyer. Thank you to the Florida Lottery and the Bright Future scholarship. I'm forever grateful.

Hard in school is just so that it's easier for you in the future. You can focus on any more like academics, any outside extracurricular activities that you want to focus on. I currently work with Miami Athletics football team, and it's super exciting being in the room with people who I want to eventually be on top of that. I do a lot of stuff with homecoming. There's just a lot of things on campus that I'm involved in that have really helped me to be a better person today. Thanks to Bright Futures, um, you allow students like me, other people, to have the opportunity to work on things they really want to do, their dreams and their goals, and to achieve those things and make it easier for them. Hey guys. My name is Carly McGregor and I'm a sophomore at the University of Central Florida. I'm currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in business management. In the future, I look forward to getting my Masters in higher education. The Bright Futures Scholarship has been a family saving Grace. My dad passed away just before I started school, which meant my mom had to score two College students on her own. I distinctly remember the joy that I felt when I found out that I qualified for the Bright Futures Scholarship. I was so proud to call my mom and tell her that I did it. That moment will forever resonate with me. Earning a scholarship has been invaluable to my family. Without Bright Futures, I would have a large amount of student debt and might not even be able to attend College. It's also brought relief to my mother and given her renewed hope for my future. My drive to succeed comes from the love love that I have for my family. I want to find a career that fulfills my need to be there for others. No matter what path I choose I know that I have so much to look forward to. I just want to thank the Florida Lottery for everything that they've done for me and all the students in Florida.

hello I'm Khayah Peters and I'm a student at Florida University I'm studying in to one day become a physical therapist for Division one athletes. Growing up in a single-parent household I was told books what takes me far in life my mom made sure I knew the importance of academics she always helped me where she did however there was only so much she could do financially as a single parent I always push myself in school because I wanted to take the burden of paying for college education off my mom

the bright future scholarship was a

reward for all of my hard work

it proved to me that I am a part of a

group of exceptional students who are

going to do amazing things one day I

knew I wanted to become a physical

therapist when I realized I could

connect my love for sports and my

interest in rehabilitating others when I

started researching the field I found

out that there were only a few females

in the professional basketball and

football leagues I want the next little

girl who's passionate about athletic

training or physical therapy to know

that her dreams are possible too because

of the bright futures program neither my

mom nor I have to worry about paying for

tuition fees or books instead I focus on

excelling in school I am very grateful

to the Florida Lottery for helping me

at a Crawford Mosley High School in

Panama City Florida I had a dream to

attend Florida State University and

through hard work I was able to earn the

made the wrong decision in pursuing a

career in education the Bright Futures

scholarship helped me find my passion

teaching as a way to give back the

bright future story I chose to be an

inclusion specialist because I've always

had a passion for working with young

children it's my job to make sure that

every child is accepted for who they are

regardless of their ability we promote

self-esteem we enhance their friendships

peer interaction and community

involvement so that all children feel

valued as they are and we can all have a

brighter future when I enrolled in my

first semester in college I realized how

important Bright Futures scholarship was

going to be for my future and my career

Hi, my name is Carlos Hernandez

and I’m a Bright Futures Student

I’m about to get my Bachelor’s

Degree in Biomedical Sciences

and I recently was accepted to

the University of Florida

to get my PhD in Pharmacy

and get a career in the  

pharmaceuticals field.

The biggest challenge I had

to get to college

was securing the

necessary finances.

I knew my parents wouldn’t

be able to help me with the

costs of the classes

and I also knew there was no

way I could get the

money by myself,

So I started applying

for a lot of scholarships.

When I realized I was qualified

for the Bright Futures

Scholarship, I felt a tremendous

joy and relief because I knew

that will get rid of lots of

stress in my life

and in my parents’ life as well.

What drives me everyday,

more than anything

is my wonderful family;

they’re always there for me.

The biggest reason why I

started paying attention to the

pharmaceutical field is

my sister.

She influences me everyday

and always gives me

wonderful advice.

I’m very proud of Carlos.

He’s always been a very smart

boy, very hardworking, very

disciplined and the fact that

he’s studying the same degree

I did makes me feel even prouder

In the near future,

hospital, giving advice

to patients and talking to them

My parents helped me a lot

to get the scholarship.

break when I got it,

so I called my mom and

we started crying tears of joy.

It was a beautiful moment.

When I got the scholarship

it gave me a feeling of

relief and pride;

relief because we don’t have to

worry that much about

college costs anymore.

And a feeling of pride because

I know my studying and

volunteer hours will help me

to get a good job in the future.

Being a Bright Futures student
