LUCKY JACKSONVILLE MAN WINS $1 MILLION PRIZE PLAYING $10,000,000 FORTUNE SCRATCH-OFF GAME
TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Lottery announces that John Barry, 38, of Jacksonville, claimed a $1 million prize in the $10,000,000 FORTUNE Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.
Barry chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $792,000.00. He purchased his winning ticket from Kangaroo Express, located at 10550 San Jose Boulevard in Jacksonville.
Barry said he was at the store cashing two other winning Scratch-Off tickets when he decided to try his luck one more time. "After I cashed my other tickets I bought one more Scratch-Off ticket and went home," he said. "I was home for about an hour before I actually scratched it and realized I had another winner - but this time it was a much bigger prize!"
The $25 Scratch-Off game, $10,000,000 FORTUNE, launched on February 23, and features more than $623 million in total cash prizes, including 46 prizes of $1 million and four prizes of $10 million. The game?s overall odds of winning are one-in-2.88.
Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery's portfolio of games, comprising approximately 67 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $632 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in fiscal year 2014-15.
