FLORIDA LOTTO™ WITH XTRA® IS HERE!
~ Ticket sales start Sunday, October 11th ~

TALLAHASSEE -- Beginning this Sunday, October 11 at 6:00 a.m., FLORIDA LOTTO™ players will be able to multiply their non-jackpot cash winnings by up to five times for just $1 more per play when they select the new XTRA® feature on their playslips.

"At the Florida Lottery we are excited about this new feature," said Florida Lottery Secretary Leo DiBenigno. "FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA will offer 'extra' entertainment value for our players for just matching two winning numbers. And, by adding XTRA to their purchase, players will actually improve their overall odds of winning."

FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA players who match three, four or five winning numbers will increase their winnings by the XTRA multiplier, from 2 to 5, selected at random prior to the FLORIDA LOTTO drawing. FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA players who match just two winning numbers, will win a free FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA Quick Pick ticket for the next available draw.

And, as a special promotion available through December 27, 2009, FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA players who match three winning numbers will automatically win a minimum prize of $25, the 3-of-6 prize multiplied by five, regardless of the multiplier selected for that drawing!

FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA will replace the current LOTTO PLUS™ feature. Sales for LOTTO PLUS will end at 10:38 p.m. this Saturday, and FLORIDA LOTTO with XTRA sales will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday. However, the Florida Lottery will honor any jackpot-winning LOTTO PLUS ticket purchased prior to October 11, including Advance Play tickets. Players who redeem an Advance Play LOTTO PLUS ticket will receive a continuation LOTTO PLUS ticket for the remaining draws.

FLORIDA LOTTO players may continue to play the base game as they always have, at $1 per play for a chance to win the advertised jackpot. The 6-of-53 game matrix and odds of winning remain unchanged; however, a new FLORIDA LOTTO playslip will be necessary to play the game. New playslips will be available at retailers statewide starting October 11.

FLORIDA LOTTO drawings will continue to take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11:15 p.m. ET. The drawings may be viewed on television carrier stations throughout the state or as a Webcast on the Lottery's Web site. FLORIDA LOTTO winning numbers are posted on the Lottery's Web site, and players may also register to receive winning numbers via e-mail or text messaging.

Florida voters, by a two-to-one margin, approved a constitutional amendment in 1986 authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education. Since the Lottery's inception, the agency has contributed more than $20 billion to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund. Today, Floridians continue to show their support by purchasing nearly $4 billion in Lottery products per year.
