TIS' THE SEASON...FOR HOLIDAY MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE™ ~ The Winning Tradition Is Back ~
TALLAHASSEE - This holiday season just got a littler merrier; everyone's favorite raffle game, Holiday MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE™, is back for the fourth year in a row. With only one million tickets available, the game offers the best odds of winning $1 million among all Lottery games currently on sale. The $20 tickets go on sale Friday, November 13, and will remain on sale through Wednesday, December 30, or until all one million tickets sell out - whichever occurs first. ''We are pleased to be able to offer this seasonal favorite, which has become a Lottery holiday tradition. What a better time of year than the holidays to make nine lucky players new millionaires," said Vicki Munroe, product development director at the Florida Lottery. This year's Holiday MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE offers nine $1 million prizes and more than 2,000 prizes ranging from $250 to $50,000. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are one in 492; the best overall odds in MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE history. Each ticket features a unique number that will be automatically entered in the random computerized drawing to be held on December 31, 2009. With only one million tickets available statewide, players are encouraged to buy early since the game is expected to sell out during the peak holiday season. All winning numbers will be available on the Florida Lottery's Web site after 3:00 p.m. on the day of the drawing and at Florida Lottery retailers statewide. Winning numbers for the $1 million prizes will also be available by phone at (850)921-PLAY (7529).Holiday MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE is expected to generate more than $7.9 million in transfers to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) if the game sells out. Florida voters, by a two-to-one margin, approved a constitutional amendment in 1986 authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education. Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $20 billion to the EETF, benefiting our students and schools, as well as funding more than one million Bright Futures scholarships.
